What Is the Up The Hatch Bucket?
The Up The Hatch Bucket is a manual water removal device designed for situations where you cannot easily tip a traditional bucket. Unlike conventional buckets, Up The Hatch fills through specially designed openings in the bottom of the bucket. Simply push the bucket straight down into standing water. As water enters the bucket, the internal sealing system remains open. Once enough water has been captured, the weight of the water forces the seals closed, trapping the water inside while the bucket is lifted and emptied.

Born Out of Necessity
The Up The Hatch Bucket wasn't created in a boardroom. It was created during a real-world drainage problem following Hurricanes Florence and Michael in North Carolina during 2018.
After back-to-back storms brought excessive rainfall, water began backing up into the crawlspace beneath founder Steve's home. While repairing the foundation drainage system, he installed a catch basin to redirect water away from the house.
The problem?
- The catch basin continued filling with water trapped in the drainage pipe.
- Traditional buckets couldn't be tipped into the narrow opening.
- Small containers removed ounces when gallons needed to be removed.
- A better solution was needed.
